Under colder then normal conditions and overcast skies, the Sunshine Coast Sailing Club has a Canada Day BBQ on the Club’s floats. With our small numbers and outdoor space, it was easy to pull something together while keeping safe.
Several members had Canada Flags flying from the masts.
Many thanks to Thomas and Carol for organizing this event. Kenny brought down his hibachi, and Brian has the burgers and potato salad. Carol and Diana will open the wine to start the Canada Day celebration.
We had done this once before and though it was a great idea. Glad the rain held off for the day. We know others on the South Coast of BC weren’t so lucky.
Brian, Grzegorz and Kim enjoy the BBQ and conversation after sailing.
Brian “the Banker” Shigetomi had a celebratory splash in the Porpoise Bay after we won two races that day. He was pretty happy with the results!
The SCSA BBQ
Brian and Dennis work on derigging there lasers while Thomas enjoys a beverage after taking down his sailboat.
The ladies of the club organized the food for the BBQ and Kenny brought the BBQ.

Robert and Ken have a laugh and some snacks at the SCSA BBQ on Canada Day.
The SCSA Canada Day BBQ on the shores of Porpoise Bay
Our Sunday Sail fell on Canada Day this year, so we decided to fly the maple leaf from out top masts and do a little parade around the inlet and a sail past the Lighthouse Pub and the Porpoise Bay Harbour.
One of our member Kevin McEvoy always wears Hawaiian t-shirts out sailing, so we decided to all wear our own Hawaiian Shirts to add even more colour to our fleet. It was a windy and great day out with the Sun coming out from behind the clouds for the afternoon. Could we ask for anything more?
Funny you say that…
Grzegorz Krolikowski, Dennis Olson and Robert Dall joined Bruce Morris on Capella for the 29th Annual Malaspina Regatta, and we placed third! Which was an awesome showing for the crew on a boat “slightly” larger than our lasers!
